Who/What/Where/Why
It was a day not to be forgotten; the day I took my great leap into academia. The first day of kindergarten. When I was a youngin’ I was excited and ready to face the world. I had little (well, probably closer to no) knowledge about the world and how things work. It’s something that I am still battling to this day, my mounting ignorance, that is. Anywho, back to my hopefully less mundane story, on the first day of kindergarten my teacher sat down and asked us a few questions that five year-olds should know. How old are you? What is your mom’s name? What is your dad’s name? Seemingly simple questions to start of the never ending slew of questions that will make up an academic career. Then my teacher reached what should have been the easiest question of the test: What is you full name? My reply? Jocelyn Mercedes Benz Platter. Yep. That’s what I said. Apparently the teacher was a bit concerned about this and asked my parents about it afterward. My given name, by my loving parents, is Jocelyn Mercedes Platter. Not too shabby a name if you ask me. And you can probably figure that in the years previous to my first encounter with the public school systems my dad often called me Jocelyn Mercedes Benz. As a four or five year-old I naturally assumed that my dad was calling by my name, and I would guess he assumed I could tell the difference between my name and a luxury car brand. He was wrong.
So this is my website. Jocelyn Mercedes. Sorry no fancy cars attached. It is going to be an ongoing work and I am excited to keep learning and improving upon it. Life is a project, and everything we undertake creates the pieces.
Currently located somewhere between imagination and reality. Mentally, at least. Physically, I would have to say studying at BYU-Idaho until April 10, 2010 when I graduate with my bachelor's in business marketing. Yeah! After that, let’s go with: it’s still up in the air.
Why not? Increasing awesomeness is a long-term goal of mine. This could turn out to be a step or two along that path.
